This is more a philosophical question that does apply to metal shows in the case, but can nearly apply to anything where there is a group of people who convene to observe something they all enjoy going to. I went to a Tool concert and it was great, but I couldn't even see the band by the end because of the haze. I guess that makes me the uncool dork, but I dunno. Again, I don't really care what other people do, it's just that when there's a cloud of the stuff in the air I don't really have any choice to not breathe it in. There are shows I will not go to because I know most of the people there will be smoking, and I don't want to be anywhere near that, for personal reasons I won't go into. What's the consensus on this from the rest of you metalheads?Īnd I'm not sure if this should be a separate topic, but I feel pretty similar on weed. I have no problem with people experiencing music the way they want to, and I don't want to impose myself on others buy saying they shouldn't do what they want, but I also feel like if I want to be able to go somewhere and listen on the floor and not have to be pushed to the back of the venue by the more aggressive people, I should be able to. Maybe I'm that jerkoff who listens to it for teh artistries (I like Tool, and I hate don't particularly like punk), but when I want to go to a metal show, the last thing I want is to get pushed around and bumped into, and in the extreme case, hurt (which thankfully hasn't happened), because a bunch of people want to jump around and do the general mosh pit business.

I dunno, maybe metal really isn't my thing, but I do listen to a lot of it.
